EMBL Careers Webinar | Careers in science communication
Our sixth webinar is aimed at early career researchers who are interested in careers in science communication. In this webinar, we invited two scientists working in this field, to share their career path and advice are young researchers.

Panelists:
- Lucas Sanchez, Co-founder / Director, Scienseed
- Sophie Lutter, Scientific Communications and Marketing Manager at OXGENE

Following each talk there will be short Q&A, guided by questions from the audience.

After the webinar, there will also be the option to join "meet the speakers" sessions for smaller group discussion. Places in these sessions will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis, with priority given to current PhDs and postdocs at EMBL. If you get a spot in these sessions, we will send you an email a few days before the event.

Speakers

Lucas Sanchez
Co-founder and Director @Scienseed
Lucas is co-founder and Director of Scienseed, a multidisciplinary agency that brings together experts in different fields of science, arts and technology for the translation of complex knowledge into communication actions. Before co-founding Scienseed, he wrote for various newspapers and collaborated in science communication training activities at several Spanish universities and research centres. Lucas' scientific background is in immunology and virology, and he spent 10-years as a researcher mainly at National Centre for Biotechnology (Madrid, Spain) and the Yale University School of Medicine (Connecticut, USA).
Sophie Lutter
Scientific Communications and Marketing Manager @OXGENE, UK
Sophie is Scientific Communications and Marketing Manager at OXGENE, a biotechnology company specialising in technologies and services that accelerate the discovery and development of new cell and gene therapies. Her role involves oversight of all the company's communications activities, ranging from the strategic: developing the company's communications strategy and key messages, to the hands on: budget management, content creation, PR and social media management. Prior to that, she spent six years in the communications team at Prostate Cancer UK, where she was responsible for planning and delivery of strategic research communications with the twin aims of supporting the charity's investments in cutting edge research and using the existing research portfolio to grow the charity's income.
